Hi Parents!

We had a great time in Planet Kids this Sunday just gone. I am constantly blown away by your children. I encourage you to get into God's word with your kids this week. It's never too early to plug into the powerful word of God!

In Comets (our Pre-School age group) we are learning that "We can talk to God". Our topic for this week was being thankful and we learned that we can talk to God to say "thank you".

Our pre-school kids heard about the story in 1 Samuel 1 where Hannah asks God for a baby and when God answered her prayer she was thankful!

They had fun connecting and playing together before watching the Lil K episode for this week. They then made a huge mural on cardboard where they could draw and share all the things they were thankful for and made a beautiful baby in craft to remind them of Hannah's answered prayer.

Comets focused in on 3 main points which would be great for you to talk about with your kids which were:

1: We can talk to God when nice things happen.

2: We can talk to God because He loves it when we say "thank you"

3: What can you "thank you" to God for?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Planet Primary, our theme for Term 3 is FOOD-yum!!

All of our D-groups, preaching, comps and games are food related..whether we're talking about feasting on the right food for your sprirt, having a real hunger for God or having fun with a masterchef competition. It's going to be a great term!

On Sunday we had a masterchef food challenge where each D-group battled it out making the tastiest and craziest pizza creations. Your kids have bucket loads of creativity! It was a blind tasting so I was mega proud of my D-group who created the coolest lollie-filled sherbert covered pizza ever!

Our Kidmo series for the next 5 weeks is "I AM" and this week we learned that God is loving.

In our food-themed D-groups we read from Matthew 9 vs 10-12 where Jesus shares a meal with Matthew, his disciples and many tax collectors and "sinners". We focused on verse 12 where Jesus responds to the Pharisees' accusations by saying "It is not the healthy that need a doctor but the sick".

We talked about the following points:

Question 1: Why do you think Matthew brought all of these bad people(“sinners”) to dinner when he knew Jesus (the holy son of God!) was going to be there?

Question 2: What do you think Jesus meant when he said “It is not healthy people that need a doctor but the sick”. Why would he talk about a doctor at the dinner table?

Question 3: What does this verse teach you about Jesus’ character?

Question 4: If Jesus was coming to your house for dinner, who would you bring?

Concluding point: Matthew knew how powerful just a few moments with Jesus was. So when he had the chance of sharing a meal with him he invited all of his friends and family
along. The religious leaders couldn’t believe it when they saw what bad people
Jesus ate dinner with. But Jesus shows us exactly who He came for. Just like a
sick person needs a doctor, the “sinners” (those who didn’t know God) needed
Jesus.

We had a great morning and can't wait for this Sunday when we learn that God is a good dad. It's going to be a blast!
